Be Back Next Tuesday

Hi All,

I've decided to take a week-long hiatus.

I was going to write some posts this week but then life started happening and now I'm too distracted to be able to concentrate.

My son has special needs, specifically, Asperger's Syndrome, which is a form of Autism, and Nonverbal Learning Disorder, which is a complicated, difficult-to-understand diagnosis. Both of these require a great deal of flexibility and "outside the box" thinking from care-givers and both of these, especially the NLD, require me to have to do some educating to help facilitate Isaac's education.

So far, the high-school that Isaac attends has been very accommodating, and they are continuing to be so. Overall I'm really happy with how things are going. Nevertheless, it's a new school, with new staff who are not familiar with him. This week has brought to light the fact that there is more work to be done! So, I have some packets to prepare regarding Isaac for school.

Then, Friday, I finally have my lithotripsy and subsequent recovery. I will be so glad that it will be over! Hooray! But still, I have to go under general anesthesia and whatnot so I'm a little nervous.

Needless to say, I am extremely distracted at the moment. I was going to post about some Christmas projects but my mind is elsewhere.

I will be back on Tuesday the 13th, which also happens to be my birthday and the day that I post my 40 x 40 list, so I will see you then!

Oh and yes, I am happy to discuss the diagnosis of Asperger's or NLD with you if you want. My email is on the contact page, feel free. I find that when I mention it people who either have a child with one of those issues, or know a child who has one of those issues, seem to come out of the woodwork. I'm happy to talk to you, we're starting high-school and since Isaac was diagnosed at four-and-a-half so I've been through most of it already.

See you next week!
H

And thinking of your sweet Isaac too. He has the best of Mommas, it seems. Wishing you the best of luck with his teachers and that they have open giving hearts, like yours. 8. Thank you everyone! The procedure was easy-peasy and I'm on the mend. I actually got out early, whoda thunk it? I really appreciate your thoughts, prayers, & well-wishes, it means so much to me :-)

Hi Marit or Erin, Isaac goes to Gardiner High-school but we are a mere fifteen minutes from Freeport. If you're ever visiting your sister, we should have a mini meet-up! Your blog is fabulous BTW, I'm off to join it :-)
